AV03

A residential building with 7 floors, in Talpiot neighborhood on the seam between commercial and residential, where the main facade of the building faces the quiet Avital Street and the rear facade faces to green open public strip, a buffer zone between commercial and residential. Guarantees a unique Jerusalem residential experience.

This is a rectangular court with building lines that are defined according to specific city building plan that doesn’t allow deviation from them. In order to create a soft structure and to open up views to the landscape, we created scraps in the rectangular mass that created roof balconies from them that gradually converge towards the inside, which makes it possible to create larger balconies and also breaks the symmetry and bulkiness of the building.

The architecture of the facades balances between a modern design and the Jerusalem stone that required in the city. We used different types of stones, in different treatments and depths, in combination with exposed concrete beams on the balconies. As part of the three-dimensional play with the stone, we created a dividing line of stone grooves between the floors, and areas of sunken stone in a module with a width of 60 cm at the height of a full floor, which changes in position and creates a frame for the windows and gives a more uniform feeling of the floors. On the balconies there are planters that serve as a railing and create green dots in the facads.
